Questions.
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the PANTHER electric.
The PANTHER electric is developed as an uncompromising airport fire truck. Like the current series, the electrified drive variant meets globally recognized standards and airport requirements such as ICAO, NFPA 414/1900, and FAA.
We see the PANTHER electric as a fully electric ARFF vehicle. All functions such as driving or extinguishing can be carried out purely electrically without compromise. A so-called energy backup system (a compact diesel engine) is available as a fallback system.
The PANTHER electric relies on its own electric drive platform. This allows the necessities of an ARFF vehicle to be efficiently addressed. The electric drive, including the battery pack, is characterized by robustness and components that have already proven themselves many times over in other applications. Rosenbauer's development partner is Magna, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers and mobility technology groups. Thanks to many developments in the field of e-mobility, Magna also enjoys the reputation of a globally recognized development partner in the field of alternative drive systems.
Efficient charging solutions are key to seamless adoption of e-mobility. The PANTHER electric's charging port meets current automotive standards and supports various charging methods. Depending on the infrastructure and state of charge (SOC), DC fast charging can recharge the vehicle in approximately 45 minutes. Additionally, AC charging ensures maintenance charging capabilities.
The primary difference lies in the propulsion system. While the PANTHER 6x6 relies on a powerful diesel engine for both propulsion and pump drive, the PANTHER 6x6 electric uses electric motors for these functions. The PANTHER electric also features a refined design and lighting concept compared to the current PANTHER series. The cabin, firefighting system, operation concept, and superstructure remain fundamentally identical.
Thanks to modern battery technology, there is little to no difference in firefighting agent volume between the PANTHER and the PANTHER electric. The volume depends on the specific configuration, as with the current PANTHER generation.
The PANTHER electric is equipped with a high-voltage battery built to automotive standards. The overall battery lifespan depends heavily on the usage profile, including environmental conditions, intensity of use, charging cycles, and charging power.
Yes, the PANTHER electric can operate its entire firefighting system, including water and foam pumps, purely electrically. This ensures full operational capability while reducing emissions and providing quieter operation during firefighting and training.
The PANTHER electric delivers the same high-performance firefighting capability as traditional diesel models, but with zero emissions and reduced noise levels for operators and airport personnel. Thanks to its powerful electric drivetrain, it accelerates from 0-80 km/h (0-50 mph) in less than 25 seconds, improving response times.
