Frequently
Asked
Questions.
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the PANTHER electric.
The PANTHER electric is being developed as an ARFF vehicle without compromise. Like the current series, the electrified drive variant also meets globally applicable standards and airport requirements such as ICAO, NFPA 414/1900 or FAA.
We see the PANTHER electric as a fully electric ARFF vehicle. All functions such as driving or extinguishing can be carried out purely electrically without compromise. An energy back-up system (compact diesel engine) is available as a fallback level.
The PANTHER electric relies on its own e-drive platform. This makes it possible to respond efficiently to the requirements of an ARFF vehicle. The electric drive including battery pack is characterized by components that have already proven themselves many times in other applications, as well as robustness. Rosenbauer's development partner is Magna, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers and mobility technology groups. Thanks to many developments in the field of e-mobility, Magna also enjoys a reputation as a globally recognized development partner in the field of alternative drive systems.
Efficient charging solutions are the key to a smooth transition to electromobility. The charging connection of the PANTHER electric complies with current automotive standards and is suitable for various charging methods. Depending on the infrastructure and the SOC (“state of charge”), charging times of approx. 45 minutes can be achieved with direct current (DC) fast charging. In addition to fast charging, charge retention can be ensured in alternating current (AC) mode.
The main difference between the two products is the type of drive and the drivetrain. While the PANTHER 6x6 uses a powerful diesel engine for propulsion and pump drive, the PANTHER 6x6 electric uses electric motors. The design and lighting concept of the PANTHER electric has been further refined compared to the current PANTHER series. The cab, extinguishing system, operating concept and body structure are basically identical.
Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art battery technology, there is little to no difference in the extinguishing agent volume between the PANTHER and a PANTHER electric. As with the current PANTHER generation, the volume depends on the respective configuration.
A high-voltage battery is installed in the PANTHER electric in accordance with automotive standards. The total service life of the batteries depends heavily on the usage profile (environmental conditions, intensity of use, charging cycles, charging capacity, etc.).
Yes, the PANTHER electric can operate its entire extinguishing system, including water/foam pumps, purely electrically. This ensures full operational capability with a simultaneous reduction in exhaust fumes and quieter operation during firefighting or training.
The PANTHER electric offers the same powerful firefighting performance as conventional diesel models, but with zero emissions and less noise for emergency crews and airport operators. Thanks to its powerful electric drivetrain, it accelerates from 0-80 km/h (0-50 mph) in less than 25 seconds, improving response times.
